RF Harvesting - Power All Around Us
Most everyone has heard of harvesting energy from the sun to supplement or completely eliminate their electric bill. Solar electric generation systems work great. If a solar electric solution is designed and integrated properly, an owner can reasonably expect the electric storage capacity of the system to sustain their power consumption needs through overnight hours and during times when direct sunlight is obscured by cloud cover. Some might ask what does that have to do with RF Harvesting? Well, the short answer is both everything and nothing. To put this in perspective, RF or "Radio Frequency" and sun light both have a common factor. That common factor is "frequency".
In the simplest of terms, it ultimately boils down to harvesting solar energy or RF energy at a certain frequency. Then converting the received or harvested frequency or "signal" into a useable state of electrical power.
Of course, others have tried this in the past and succeeded. But, that also leaves many wondering why in the world are we still paying for our electricity? That friends is an extremely good question! The harsh reality is our world has changed drastically over the past 10 years. The Internet and number of people using it has grown exponentially and continues to grow. We are witness to an era of accelerated advanced communications in the digital age that has our global society more connected then at any other time in history. Couple a lousy world economy with a hunger to save money then decrease the ability to suppress technology release and progression and you have the perfect storm carrying the furious winds of true change. These are very exciting times we live in, and they are only going to get more exciting as time marches on.
There are visionary people of the past who not only saw the potential of plucking electricity seemingly from air, but actually were able to do so. Conventional logic says what they have already succeeded in doing in the past can not be done. So much for conventional wisdom when history already holds the secrets. It is merely a matter of unlocking these secrets in a manner best fitting for the use of all, and not just the privileged. However, one must also realize there are some rather insidious implications if such technology is not wielded wisely. We will go into this with greater depth in the near future.
